Millions of families will celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday to honour their mothers for their love and their nurturing nature, and for the sacrifices they make for their children and families.
Let’s use this special day to thank our Mothers and Mother figures for their lifelong love and support. Each mother’s role is vitally important and cannot be emphasized enough – they all have a unique and profound effect on their children’s lives.
Great leaders have attested to the importance of a wise and loving mother. United States President Andrew Jackson praised his mother as being “gentle as a dove and brave as a lioness” (Mother o’ Mine: A Mother’s Treasury, p. 106). Inventor Thomas Edison honored his mother, saying, “My mother was the making of me,” and U.S. President Abraham Lincoln said, “All that I am or hope to be I owe to my mother”.
We never forget that Mother’s Day can be painful, or poignant, or perhaps both for those who have lost their mother. I read an article some time ago on “How to survive Mother’s Day when your Mother is gone.” I found it encouraging and attach the link if you would like to read it. https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/bouncing-back/201605/how-survive-mother-s-day-when-your-mother-is-gone?eml
Happy Mother’s Day to all our Mothers.
Have a good weekend!
